The Challenge

A Brand-New Venue Needed Everything — Engineered as One System

The Venue's Challenge

  • Multi-level space with ballroom, mezzanine, ceremony area, bridal suite, and multiple bars — each requiring distinct lighting scenes
  • Premium wedding venue demanding flawless ambiance with zero technical disruptions during events
  • Broad Street frontage requiring an iconic illuminated sign installation on a historic painted brick facade
  • Security and access control needed across guest areas, back-of-house, and vendor entry points
  • Audio system requiring full coverage across the ballroom stage, bars, cocktail mezzanine, and ceremony space — with independent zone control
  • No existing low-voltage infrastructure — complete build-out from conduit to commissioning

The TBD Solution

  • Crestron control system unifying every technology layer — lighting, audio, video, shades, and HVAC — into a single touch panel interface for event staff
  • Complete lighting design with all fixtures specified, sourced, and installed — architectural, decorative, and accent — with Lutron dimming scenes for ceremony, cocktail, dinner, and dance
  • Custom-fabricated illuminated "LUCY" sign engineered for exterior brick wall mounting with proper structural support and weatherproofing
  • Verkada security cameras covering all public areas, back-of-house, and exterior perimeter with cloud-based management
  • Paxton door access and alarm system providing credential-controlled entry for staff, vendors, and management with event-day guest flow programming
  • Multi-zone QSC audio system with dedicated DSP — ballroom, mezzanine bars, ceremony, and bridal suite each independently controlled

The Story

One Integrator. Every Wire. Every Fixture. Every Camera.

When Cescaphe developed The Lucy as their newest wedding venue on Philadelphia's Avenue of the Arts, they needed a technology partner who could handle the entire scope — not a lighting vendor, a separate AV company, a different security installer, and a fourth firm for networking. They needed one team responsible for every technology system in the building.

TBD engineered and installed all nine systems as a unified platform. Every lighting fixture in the venue — from the European-inspired brass chandeliers in the Grand Ballroom to the accent lighting in the mezzanine bars — was specified, sourced, and installed by our team. Every speaker, every camera, every access reader, every cable run.

The result is a venue where event staff manages everything from a single Crestron touch panel. Ceremony mode dims the chandeliers, brings up the aisle lighting, and routes audio to the ceremony speakers — one button. Reception mode shifts the entire venue: ballroom lights scene-set for dinner, stage audio goes live, bars light up, and the mezzanine cocktail zone transitions to ambient. No AV tech required. No IT calls. Just flawless events, every weekend.

How We Work

From Blueprint to First Event

1

Design & Engineering

We review architectural plans, model lighting scenes in software, design audio zones, and produce construction-ready documentation for every system.

2

Rough-In & Infrastructure

Conduit, cable pathways, electrical coordination, and back-box installation — all completed during the construction phase alongside the GC's schedule.

3

Trim & Commissioning

Fixture installation, speaker mounting, camera placement, access readers, and full system programming. Every scene tested. Every zone calibrated.

4

Training & Support

Staff training on the Crestron interface, documentation handoff, and ongoing remote monitoring. We don't leave until the first event runs flawlessly.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can TBD handle the complete technology scope for a new venue build?

Yes. We specialize in full-venue integration — lighting design and fixtures, audio, video, security cameras, door access, alarm systems, Crestron automation, and network infrastructure. One contract, one point of accountability, one team that knows how every system connects.

Do you work with general contractors during construction?

Absolutely. We coordinate directly with GCs, electricians, and architects from schematic design through punch list. Our construction documentation includes conduit schedules, back-box locations, circuit requirements, and coordination drawings — the same standard we use on ultra-premium residential projects.

How does the Crestron control system simplify event operations?

We program pre-set scenes — Ceremony, Cocktail, Dinner, Dance — that adjust lighting, audio routing, and display content in one tap. Event staff doesn't need to understand the technology. They press a button and the entire venue transforms. No AV technician required on-site.

What areas do you serve for commercial projects?

We serve commercial and hospitality clients across Philadelphia, New York City, Palm Beach, and Miami. For venue and hospitality projects, we handle everything from pre-construction coordination through commissioning and ongoing support.

How much does full-venue technology integration cost?

Scope varies widely by venue size and system complexity. A full technology package for a 5,000 SF event venue with lighting, audio, video, security, access control, and automation typically ranges from $150,000 to $400,000+. We provide detailed proposals with line-item pricing within one week of a site visit.
